About 600 students to participate and take a PLEDGE to work for a nuclear-free world
Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal, in association with the NSS Units of SNDT Women’s University and the University of Mumbai, has been organizing an Anti-Nuclear Peace Rally every year on Hiroshima Day for the past 35 years. The aim of the rally is to join hands with peace-loving people across the world to raise awareness about the catastrophic consequences of nuclear warfare and to promote the values of peace and nonviolence.
Hiroshima Day marks the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the Second World War, which resulted in the tragic loss of over 1,29,000 to 2,26,000 lives. This day is observed worldwide to remember the victims and to reaffirm our collective commitment to building a peaceful, nuclear-free world.
This year, the Peace Rally will be held on Thursday, 6th August 2026. Students graphically depicting the horrors of the atomic bomb will lead the rally, followed by about 600 NSS volunteers, Gandhian workers, peace activists, journalists, and concerned citizens carrying posters and banners highlighting the devastating impact of nuclear weapons.
