Mumbai: In Bandra V.P. Road (Jer Mansion) area of Bandra, Adani Electricity cables were laid directly on the road surface instead of being buried underground

Consequently, the constant movement of vehicular traffic over the exposed cables caused them to catch fire. Amidst Mumbai’s scorching heat, sparks erupted within the power supply cables, subsequently igniting a blaze that resulted in a complete power outage across the entire locality. Fire Officer N.P. Kale informed *Maharashtra Samachar* Editor Akbar Khan that while the cable fire had indeed caused disruption, they have instructed Adani officials to commence repair work immediately and restore power supply. Meanwhile, Adani lineman Chetan Sawant explained to *Maharashtra Samachar* Editor Akbar Khan that they had sought permission from the BMC to bury the cables underground; however, since the BMC has paved all the roads with cement, they have been unable to obtain the necessary clearance. As a result, the cables remain exposed, leading to repeated instances of breakage and fire. Upon receiving the alert, personnel from Adani Electricity and the Fire Department rushed to the scene; Adani maintenance workers subsequently replaced the damaged cables, and power supply was restored. An official from the power utility confirmed that the cables had indeed burned and that the necessary repairs had been carried out.
This incident marks the second consecutive day that cables have caught fire following a short circuit. Just one day prior—and the day before that as well—electrical cables in the V.P. Road (Jer Mansion) area had similarly ignited due to sparking, making this the second such occurrence in the locality within a two-day span.
